  2. Create a Purchase Agreement: If the buyer decides to accept the price for the St. Johns County alcohol license that was set by the seller, they will both agree to sign a Purchase Agreement.
  3. Pay 10% of the Cost of the Liquor License Upfront: The buyer will pay a total of 10% of the cost upfront, which removes the listing of the St. Johns County liquor license from auction, and this 10% will go straight into an Attorney Trust Account. This is when a closing date will be selected.
  4. After these forms are completed, the St. Johns County liquor license buyer will ask their escrow agent or attorney to put all the documents in escrow until the closing of the sale.
  5. Seller Pays Transfer Fees: Additional fees that might be required will be paid by the seller and removed from the sale proceeds.
  6. The fee can be paid with a Bank Wire, Cashier’s Check, a Bank Check, or an Attorney’s Trust Account directly to the seller’s attorney along with the Closing Statement Documents.
  7. Closing the Bill of Sale: At the time that the sale is closed, the seller’s escrow agent or hired attorney will provide the buyer with copies of the original Bill of Sale for the St. Johns County alcohol license, the Affidavit of Transferor, and the Closing Statement.
  8. Submit Transfer of Liquor License Application Documents to AB&T: The buyer’s attorney may guide the buyer through completing the transfer of documents and submitting them to the Division of AB&T. The buyer may choose to put the liquor license in escrow with AB&T, or they may ask the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (AB&T) to send over a temporary St. Johns County liquor license if the premises where they’ll be selling liquor is ready to open.

  7. AB&T Application Review: All documents, including the AB&T Application, will be reviewed and put into the AB&T data system.
  8. Submit to investigation: A final inspection of your establishment will be done by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (AB&T) to make sure everything is up to code.
  9. Receive the liquor license: If the inspection and application are approved by the DBPR AB&T, then they will send you a bill for the entire cost of the liquor license in St. Johns County. Once you’ve paid for the alcohol permit, the Division of AB&T will send you the official St. Johns County alcohol license, and you should display this in a prominent spot at your place of business.
