California Frequently Asked Questions

When is the escrow fee payable to Liquor License Auctioneers’ independent third party escrow company for the license won on the Liquor License Auctioneers’ website?

The escrow fee must be paid, in full, within thirty (30) days from the date of filing the ABC application, with no exceptions. The failure by a buyer to deposit all of the escrow fee into escrow within this thirty (30) day period will prevent or delay the escrow from closing and the transfer of the alcoholic beverage license from the seller to the buyer. Failure to make the required deposit may also result in the cancellation of the escrow and the loss of all or a portion of the buyer's deposit money. For the above reasons, a buyer should not bid on an alcoholic beverage license through the Liquor License Auctioneers website unless the buyer is serious about purchasing an alcoholic beverage license, and has the financial ability to fund the purchase through escrow, including full payment of all escrow fees and costs, if the buyer successfully bids on an alcoholic beverage license through a live auction conducted on our website. Any fees and costs, in addition to the escrow fee, (Recording & Certification of Notice of Intended Transfer is ($75.00 – $100.00 — varies by County) and Overnight Messenger Fee  ($75.00 — approximate/if applicable) payable through escrow will be billed to the buyer by the escrow company and will be payable through escrow as specified in the applicable escrow instructions and any supplements and amendments to the escrow instructions.
